If you ever met Lyndon you knew how infectious he was. You just couldn’t walk away from him. His vivaciousness and endurance not to mention his beautiful smile kept you mesmerized. His light was indeed very very bright. But, Lyndon could of cared less about attention from adults…what influenced him the most were always other children. If we ever wanted him to go anywhere we would just say, “Let’s go grocery shopping so we can go see kids.” and just like that he would jump up and be ready to go. He loved, loved, loved….Kids.
I knew I could not let his beautiful life be remembered the way it had ended. He was and is so much more than just another fatality from a car accident. People only see and read this about him which made him forever immortalized as the tragedy that happened to him. No one witnessed all the lovely things that made him…Him, but me and the people who he came in contact with. I refuse to let that be his legacy…Lyndon is so much more than an awful tragedy. Lyndon was kind, bright, loving and did not have an ounce of prejudice or hate in his heart. He loved to give gifts to others and he never expected any in return. I was amazed at his giving nature and I adored it about him. In honor of Lyndon’s life and the impression he made on me and the world I will be hosting Lyndon’s Shining Light. This will be a photography event where we will be taking beautiful portraits of special needs children (1-18 years old) so that they and their families can cherish forever. After their portrait balloons and snacks will follow. This is about fun, giving and capturing the light with in.
I have had the top photographers in the area grace me with their help. Katie Blattel Photography, Sherry Rust Photography, Arevalo Photography, Tara Stallings Photography and Photogenic l Photography by Danielle Rayoum. The amount of talent that will be in one place at this event is enormous and how proud I am that my little guy can aspire such powerful people to provide their time and gifts in his name. There are going to be so many other volunteers there to help with entertaining the kids, assisting photographers, giving out balloons and organizing the event. From the bottom of my broken heart thank you all for participating. The event will take place on November 1st, 2015 in Cape Girardeau, MO. My wish would be to host every special needs child in the area, unfortunately our time and man power is limited. Below is a link to the form where you can submit your information to sign up for the event. If you want a spot you MUST inquire with this form. Spots are limited and after we receive all information we will be notifying the participants of the amount we can accept.
If you do not have a special needs child please share this post and hopefully it will find the right people that will benefit from the cause!
*Update* At this time the registration is full!

My life changed the day I had Greyson!!! Two weeks before I had him we found out he had Down Syndrome. My first response was Scared how would we do it, would he be ok and all the raw emotions that went with it. But the second I laid eyes on him I was in love!! I would not change one thing about him!!! The amount of love he gives you and others is contagious!!! He is always trying to please you. If he thinks or feels you are upset he will rub your back or arm to comfort you. He has shown our family what love and life is all about!! Caring, loving, and giving! He truly is our shining light in our family. We would be so excited if you choose Greyson for one of the spots! Thank you so much for the opportunity to capture some of the amazing special needs kids in this area! What a blessing!

Was just wondering if appointment times would be scheduled. As my son is ventilator and oxygen dependent, outings have to be brief.
Laura says
Yes they will be scheduled 15 minutes per child.

We found out our son had a cleft lip at what was to be our “for fun” 4D ultrasound. Ended up not being so much fun. They told us because he had a bilateral cleft lip more than likely he would have cleft palate as well, which he does. We worried about the important things like how will he eat, the surgeries to come & his overall health. But the worst part was that I was worried about how he was going to look. I wanted my baby boy to look perfect for all his pictures & show him off. It was hard on me at first but Lincoln IS perfect & I love showing him off. It gives him personality. Most importantly it reminds me how lucky we are. His is cosmetic & can be corrected with a few surgeries. This is a great opportunity for kids & parents to show that different is beautiful & to give them the confidence they may not have! Even if Lincoln doesn’t get picked, I want to say thank you for what you are doing!

What a beautiful project! I am so sorry that it is one borne of pain and loss, and I cannot even imagine the hurt over your child’s loss. Thank you so much for taking the time to do this for others in honor of Lyndon, and thanks to the other photographers who have joined you in your effort.
